Found My Calling

October 16, 2010

I can’t begin to describe how happy I am working on my little computer, choosing fonts, enlarging, reducing, adjusting transparencies and editing layers.(But it seems like I am beginning to describe it.)

I’ve been painting since I can remember, but its always fit into my life as a hobby. I would be happy with the end product sometimes but never happy the whole way through. If you are a fellow artist you understand the emotional roller coaster process you go through while painting. Always having to get over that “I hate this” hump. I can drain a lot of energy, especially when you’ve got a bad back like me. Long story short, its something I tire of from time to time.

The graphic design work I’ve gotten to do during this internship has opened my eyes. I now know that I’ve found that job you love to do AND make a living off of. I can self teach, I’m constantly discovering new techniques and inspiration is EVERYWHERE. Everything I see adds a new layout design in my head. And the reactions I get when people get their final product is so rewarding, because I was able to figure out that image they had in their head, but just couldn’t explain or depict. Call it an addiction if you wish, but whenever I’m away from this keyboard and my adobe suite, I can’t wait to get back.

I’ve found my calling.
